Cindy Cummings is a dance artist based in Dublin Ireland. From 2014-2015, she was one of three artists to participate in the UCD (University College Dublin) College of Science Artist In Residence programme. Her research focussed on how to integrate the languages of Dance and Physics to create collaborative works for video and improvised and/or choreographed live performances.
A hallmark of Cindy’s practice is her collaborations with international artists from different disciplines. Since 1998, this fertile landscape has been richly developed in her work using interactive technologies with composer /media artist Todd Winkler (US), MIDASpaces (IE), Cleary Connolly (FR/IE), Neill O'Dwyer (IE) and half/angel (UK/IE).
Cummings' other collaborations include dance films with director Oonagh Kearney (IE/UK) and site specific performance/installations with media artist Andrew Duggan (IE). Cindy is one of the first dance artists in Ireland to become a member of Aosdána (an affiliation of creative artists in Ireland) and is co-director of the independent performance/practice studio Fumbally Court Studio with performing artists Deirdre Murphy, Regan O'Brien and Rebecca Reilly (since 2011).
