The GOLD Company are a group of over 55's who love to move, laugh, create and perform. Established in 2011 and run by Canberra Dance Theatre this ACT based mature movers company is Australia's youngest oldest dance company. They have an ethos that embraces all and a focus on working with Australia's national institutions, creating and performing in the National Gallery of Australia, National Library of Australia, National Film and Sound Archive, CSIRO Discovery and National Portrait Gallery. GOLD are directed by Liz Lea, Canberra Dance Theatre's Artistic Director, Jane Ingall and Philip Piggin and under their direction the company have commissioned over 10 national choreographers to create on them including Elizabeth Cameron Dalman, Jade Tyas Tunggal, Glen Murray and Sue Healey whose recent film about them 'The Golds', is shortlisted for a 2015 Australian Dance Award. In September 10 GOLD dancer are touring to 7 cities in the UK and Europe, working with over 16 mature age dance companies and organisations over three weeks. In 2016 the company will premiere a sries of new works and commissions at the National Museum of Australia.
