Padraig Dunne is a physicist and current head of the University College Dublin School of Physics, which is located in the same building on the Belfield campus where the UCD Art in Science programme is housed. He completed his PhD in 1994, on experimental spectroscopy of laser-produced plasmas. The current focus of his research is on plasmas as sources of ions and radiation for both spectroscopy and applications in the areas of semiconductor processing and imaging. His current teaching interests are largely focussed on bringing physics to life-science and agricultural science classes. Padraig is interested in the conversations that can take place between disciplines, in this case where the language of physics can contribute to an interpretation of and discussion about Dance.
