Sara Houston is Principal Lecturer in the Department of Dance, University of Roehampton, UK. Her research into the experience of people dancing with Parkinson’s won the BUPA Foundation Vitality for Life Prize in 2011 and the project was Finalist in the National Engagement Awards 2014. Her research and teaching interests lie in community dance and dance for people marginalised or excluded in society. Her work has also led her to examine professional development for those working in the dance sector. She was awarded a National Teaching Fellowship by the Higher Education Academy in 2014. Houston is Chair of People Dancing: the Foundation for Community Dance.
